Hausa community in Nasarawa State has been admonished on the need to regard the Hausa language as their permanent identity anywhere they find themselves.
The Sarkin Hausawa Mararaba, Karu Local Government area, Alhaji Usman Adam Mani, stated this while marking the world Hausa Day celebration 2022 which took place at Royal Dream Hotel, Mararaba, on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
The twenty-sixth day of August every year is been celebrated as world Hausa Day to recognise and improve the vocabulary of the language and also to celebrate the culture and language of Hausa people, whose population is estimated to be over 70 million people globally.
In Mararaba, Karu Local Government area, the situation is not different as Hausa community led by their traditional leader, Adam Usman Mani, joined their counterparts all over the world to mark the day in a grand style as Hausa songs, meaning of some Hausa words were displayed.
In his address, the Sarkin Hausawa Mararaba, Alhaji Usman Adam Mani, described the day as memorable and unique in the lives of Hausa people which according to him, symbolises unity and understanding among the Hausa community, calling on them to live in peace with one another irrespective of their differences just as he assured that the next year’s celebration would be featuring Hausa traditional foods among other activities.
While giving the history and the hierarchical formations of Hausa traditional tools and how their rulership started in Mararaba, Gwani Nura Adam danmasani, said traditional ruler is the commander in chief, followed by the palace chief, the Madaki, Galadima among others, maintaining that Hausa community regard their traditional institution more than any other thing, calling on Hausa community to work towards sustaining the spirit.
In their good messages, the Fafidan Mararaba, Abdullahi Mohammed, the Sarkin Malamai, Yakubu Bello, and Alhaji Sule Madaki, called for understanding between the Hausa community in the area, stating that Hausa people came to Mararaba fifty three years ago, since then they never had problem with their neighbours, and called for its sustenance for the overall development.
The event gave them the opportunity to raise funds for the establishment of an Orphanage home in Mararaba to be handled by a non-governmental organization called ‘Abul Baity Foundation which is saddled with the responsibility of assisting the less privileged through skill acquisition training to make them self-reliant.
