Arise TV host, Oseni Rufai has given an insight into what led to the arrest of Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu in the UK.
Oseni disclosed this in a tweet he made on Thursday, June 23, 2022.
According to Oseni Rufai, Ekweremadus’ daughter who is sick needed a kidney, so they had to bring a boy they had promised a better life but with the intention of harvesting his kidney.
He wrote;
“Ekweremadu’s daughter needed a kidney, so he brought in a 15-year-old homeless boy with an illegally obtained passport stating that the boy was 21. The boy was promised a better life. The former deputy senate President has been denied bail,” he wrote on Twitter.
Ike and his wife were arrested in the United Kingdom over an alleged human organ Harvesting.
According to Met Police Press Release, the Ekweremadus have been charged with conspiring to arrange the travel of a child into the UK in order to harvest organs.
“The charges follow an investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime team.

[A] Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55 (10.9.66) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.
[B] Ike Ekweremadu, 60 (12.05.62) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.
They have both been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court later today.
The investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.
A child has been safeguarded and we are working closely with partners on continued support.
As criminal proceedings are now underway we will not be providing further details.”
