The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has claimed that if President Buhari did not take decisive action, insurgents would have declared an Islamic State in Nigeria.
He made the claim during a press conference on Wednesday, December 15, while he acknowledged that the current security situation is a major challenge.
Lai Mohammed, who listed ways President Buhari has tried to combat insecurity in the country, said the Nigerian leader will continue to provide quality leadership to ensure that security agencies decisively combat the cankerworm of insecurity.
The Minister also claimed that before Buhari was elected, Boko Haram declared a Caliphate in Gwoza after capturing Bama, Gamboru, and other towns and villages in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa. He went on to say that the insurgents installed their own Emirs, collected taxes, and flew their own flag before being driven out by the military.
