Truck crushes Corps member: A serving female Corps member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Oluwale Abidemi has been crushed to death by a tipper in Benin City, Edo State.
The fatal accident occurred on Wednesday, September 22, along the busy Airport Road near the suburban Ogba River bridge.
According to reports, the tipper, which was said to be transporting sand, suffered a brake failure and collided with a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) before colliding with a commercial motorcycle carrying a woman and the serving corps member.

The woman was seriously injured, and the deceased Corps member, whose remains have since been deposited at an unknown mortuary, died on the spot.
The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m., according to DSP Kotongs Bello of the Edo State Police Command.
“Today, around 12:30 p.m., a tipper carrying sand failed brake at Ogba bridge and collided with a Lexus SUV and a motorcycle,” he said.
“The motorbike was carrying one Mrs Maria, who was severely injured and is now being treated at the Central Hospital in Benin, and a youth corps member who was said to be Maria’s sister, who died on the spot,” he added.
