22-year-old woman: The Yobe State Police Command has arrested Khadija Yakubu, 22, for allegedly poisoning her stepchildren, resulting in the deaths of three of them.
On Friday, September 17, an incident occurred in the Makara-Huta area of Potiskum local government area of Yobe State.
The stepmother is accused of giving the children poisoned tea, which caused them to become ill.
The incident was confirmed in a press release signed and issued by ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yobe State Command.
According to the statement, the children were rushed to the hospital after drinking the tea prepared by the said suspect in the early hours of Friday, September 17, 2021, around 0900hrs, but three of the victims died while receiving treatment and one remained unconscious.

“So far, an investigation has been launched by the police to unravel the elements of the case for subsequent prosecution,” Dungus said.
The victims were identified as Zainab Alhaji Haruna, 7, Ahmed Alhaji Haruna, 9, Umar Alhaji Haruna, 12, and Maryam Alhaji Haruna, 11.
