Gunmen kill one kidnap: Gunmen suspected of being kidnappers attacked a marble quarry site at Ugya village in Toto local government area of Nasarawa State, killing one quarry worker, Ibrahim Aliyu, and kidnapping another, Abdul Umar Ekuji.
The incident occurred on Monday, July 5 at 4:43 p.m., according to reports.
According to Salihu, a resident of the community, gunmen armed with AK47 rifles invaded the quarry marble site, which he said was two kilometres away from the community.
Aliyu, who owns a marble quarry, had gone home but was informed of the invasion.
“He had only returned from the quarry site for about 20 minutes when he received news that kidnappers had invaded the site,” Salihu told Daily Trust.
“He rode his motorcycle with two vigilantes to confront them. So, as he was going, one of the kidnappers shot him in the chest, and he died instantly,” he explained.
Some quarry workers, he said, narrowly escaped, but one, Abdul Umar Ekuji, was taken away at gunpoint.
