Police arrest three men: The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three men for allegedly killing six cows and injuring 13 others at Eruwa in Ibarapa East Local Government Area in Oyo State.
The State Police Command’s spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, disclosed this while parading the suspects.
According to him, they were apprehended inside the bush at Sunbare area, along the old Ibadan-Eruwa road, on Sunday, June 20 while attempting to chase Fulani herders from the forest to graze their cattle.
“On Sunday, June 20th, 2021, several gunshots were reportedly fired in a bush at Sunbare Area, along old Ibadan road Eruwa, causing fear and panic in the hearts of residents”

“Upon receiving the information, police operatives attached to Eruwa Divisional Police Headquarters gathered momentum and stormed the reported scene in collaboration with stakeholders in the area.” Opeyemi Ajibodu ‘m’ (30), Segun Dade ‘m’ (29), and Dare Adenle ‘m’ (25), were arrested upon arrival at the scene.”
Three fane guns, two daggers, one cutlass, two headlamps, charms, three I.D cards and one Access ATM card belonging to Ajibodun Opeyemi, one lighter, ten expended cartridges, and two live cartridges were recovered from the suspects.
“An on-the-spot assessment at daybreak revealed that the gunshots were from an attack launched against a group of Fulani herders, resulting in the death of six cows and the wounding of thirteen 13) others,” the PPRO said.
“Interrogation revealed that the attack was carried out to prevent herders from grazing in the forests surrounding Eruwa. Efforts to apprehend other participants in the crime are ramping up, “he said.
