The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of a middle-aged man in an accident in Aguata, Anambra, caused by an alleged drunk driver who lost control of his car and rammed into another vehicle.
Mr Andrew Kumapayi, FRSC Sector Commander in the area, told Newsmen in Awka on Thursday that the accident happened Wednesday evening on Igbo Ukwu-Ezinifite Road.
“An unidentified driver of a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number ENU544YA and an unidentified driver of a Mitsubishi L300 bus with registration number JJT677JT were involved in the accident.

“According to eyewitnesses, the Mitsubishi bus driver, who was accused of being intoxicated, lost control of his car, left his lane, and collided with the Hiace bus.
“The crash involved thirteen people, including seven males, four females, and two children, a male and a female.
“Twelve people were injured and taken to Apex Hospital Igbo Ukwu before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team from Igbo Ukwu Command.
“A male adult was declared dead by the on-duty doctor and his body was deposited at the morgue,” Kumapayi said.
The sector commander however sent a warning to drivers not to drive under the influence of alcohol.
