Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a well-known Islamic cleric, has warned that if Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Pantami is removed from office, the country will certainly regret it all.
President Muhammadu Buhari has been under the pressure to fire Pantami after his past radical and fundamentalist views were exposed in the digital and social media domain.
Instead, the presidency agreed with the embattled minister that his radical comments were made when he was too young.
Sheikh Gumi, who was recently hired to negotiate with terrorists, told Roots TV that there is no proof that Pantami’s terrorist views have killed anybody and that he should be left alone to continue his good work in government.
“You can’t Islamize the whole world. Jesus Christ came, but he was unable to Christianize the whole universe. Nobody will Islamize or Christianize Nigeria, Gumi said.
“Every single one of his acts demonstrates that he is not a terrorist. Terrorists are attempting to take his life. The minister should keep on doing his job. His activity in government is fighting the terrorist ideology.

“Show me, one person, he has murdered. He has not murdered anybody. He has not ordered the assassination of anybody. “Ignore the false news,” he said.
Gumi went on to say that Nigeria needs more Pantamis in government.
“The man is establishing a government among a group of young people, and we want them to come and participate in nation-building.” They should not throw him away. Leave him. He is not a supporter of terrorists.
“And you people are fighting him. No. You should get more people like Pantami and put them in power. Don’t remove him. You’ll regret,” the cleric further warned.
