Alhaji Usman Umbagadu, the Aren Akun of Nasarawa, has urged Joseph Anzaku, the new Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Branch, to put his members’ welfare first.
Umbagadu said this would foster peace in the region while speaking at a reception held in honour of Anzaku on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, in Akun community.
Ibrahim Usman, the traditional ruler’s uncle, stressed the importance of raising the living standards of workers and their families.
“I’d like to congratulate you and your team on being elected to lead your association’s affairs in this local government.
“Any association’s contribution to the growth of its members and society at large cannot be overstated.
“I firmly encourage you and your team to carry out your roles without fear or favour,” Umbagadu said.

He further encouraged the association’s members to give their new leadership all of the support it needs to succeed.
Chief Adams Nangba, the District Head of Wakama, congratulated Anzaku on his election as chairman and urged him to lead with the fear of God.
Nangba encouraged the new executives to include every member of the association in their day to day activities.
While Paul Boka, the Speaker of the Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Legislative Council, expressed trust in the new chairman’s ability to carry the association to greater heights in the council district.
However, Boka, the union’s immediate past chairman, pledged to help and educate the new executive members in order to ensure they perform well.
Anzaku on his part expressed gratitude for his election and promised not to disappoint his supporters.
“I will protect and prioritize the welfare of my members, in order to enhance their quality of living and for the overall growth of the local government and the state,” he said.
