Nigerian afrobeat singer, Davido has finally paid his lover, Chioma’s full bride price at Ezeala Odu, Imo state.
In some photos and video posted online, Chioma’s dad was captured performing the Umunna and umuada rites.
In the process of an Igbo tribe wedding, the Umunna rites is the meeting between the groom’s family and the bride’s extended family.
The meeting is very essential because the groom’s people have to confirm their interest in getting married to the bride-to-be family, in the presence of her direct and extended family and the family elders.
Once the interest and awareness has been protected, the traditional wedding date and the bride price list will be sent out.
The groom will take with himself a few gifts like kola nuts, palm wine, beer, soft drinks, tobacco, snuff, goat and many other things which the bride family will share.
It was reported some months ago that Davido and Chioma had their tradition wedding in November, almost immediately after the loss of their son.
It was alleged that the singer tied the knot with Chioma after their first son, Ifeanyi’s death.
The traditional wedding’s venue was at the bride’s father’s house, with no cameras allowed and a relatively few attendance.
According to our source, Chioma’s bride price had been paid in full.
Recall that early last year the Afrobeat legend, Davido had promised to properly marry Chioma in 2023, but after the loss of their son, the singer quickened their wedding.
