After learning that Afrobeats artist `Wizkid had brought out Berri Tiga instead of Carter Efe for his event, Nigerians took to social media amazingly to express their outrage.
On Saturday, `Wizkid performed his Starboy Live in Lagos concert at the Eko Hotel, which was attended by a star-studded crowd. One moment that stood out, though, was when Berri Tig took the stage and sang Machala, a song that is owned by comedian Carter Efe.
People had anticipated that Carter and Berri would take the stage to perform together, or at the at least, if neither can make it, Efe should be asked since it is his song.
Attendees expressed surprise that Tiga, not Efe, had been invited, and a recording of the musician singing the popular song by himself was made.
The supporter voiced his regret that Carter Efe was denied the opportunity to fulfill his long-held desire to perform alongside Big Wiz.
Meanwhile, weeks ago, it was revealed that Berri Tiga had reopened his legal battle against Carter Efe over their dispute over the song Machala’s copyright.
He asserted that the comedian turned singer offered him N200,000 in the form of a 30% royalty on the money made by the popular song.
Berri criticized Carter Efe during an Instagram live session for giving him a laughably small sum.
He bemoaned not receiving his fair portion from the song, which reached the top spot on streaming services, and felt deceived.
The skit creator was made fun of by Berri Tiga, who claimed that the music industry does not function in the same way as the online comedy sector.
The vocalist of “God” used online resources to research the legitimacy of the funds Carter Efe sent to him.
