President Muhammadu ‘Buhari’ is confident that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would win every election in 2023 handily and unequivocally.
The President also gave the ruling APC and its candidates for the upcoming elections the assurance that he is always prepared to campaign for the party’s nominee for president as well as the candidates from all other parties with “full enthusiasm and conviction.”
This assurance, according to a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, is intended to allay concerns that have been raised in some quarters about the President’s absence from campaigns since the national launch in Jos, Plateau State, and to emphasize that while he remains committed to party politics, the President’s functions and duties will equally be carried out.
Speaking to the Nigerian community in Washington DC in the course of his recent visit to the United States, President ‘Buhari’ had stressed what he said all the time that he is ready to campaign for the party’s victory in the general elections next year.
The statement further said that “The President noted that the APC campaigns have so far been the most aggressive in recent history.
“They have been impressive and of a high voltage,” compared to the opposition that seems to be playing catch-up.
“He expressed strong optimism that the party will win all the elections fairly and squarely.”
While this is going on, the APC has requested that law enforcement authorities launch an inquiry into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership’s allegation that plans are afoot to incite violence and scuttle the 2023 elections.
According to the APC Presidential Campaign Council, it is clear from this accusation that the PDP has “credible information” about persons who are committing acts of violence in particular regions of the nation.
Festus Keyamo, the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council’s director of public affairs and chief spokesperson, issued a statement in which the ruling party accused the opposition of acting without a shred of decency or regard for the Nigerian people.
“Instead of continuous apologies for those grievous acts of election rigging, money-laundering and other electoral malpractices, it continues to pontificate.
“Based on its latest Press Statement about having ‘credible information’ about certain individuals plotting to derail the 2023 elections, including acts of arson already perpetrated on the facilities of INEC, we therefore call on the law-enforcement agencies to, as a matter of URGENCY, invite the PDP leaders for immediate questioning. The PDP must provide information :
