Lagos State’s Babajide Sanwo-Olu governor officially opened the state’s Blue Line Rail on Wednesday. It was reported that Jubril Gawat, Sanwo-Olu Special Assistant on New Media, announced this on his Twitter profile and released images from the event.
Gawat claims that the first phase of the rail project’s infrastructure construction (Marina to Mile 2) has been finished and will be officially opened on Wednesday (today).
The blue line, which runs between Marina and Okokomaiko in the Lagos metro system, is one of seven lines.
As at the time the rail line was still in construction the Governor noted that the structure would ease road congestion as it would be completed soon.
At that time he said, “This is the first time I am taking you on the blue line to see where we are. The first phase of the Blue line rail project starts from Mile 2 and terminates at Marina. Marina Station is an elevated station and it stretches out to outer Marina and terminates where the Governor’s residence is. At the end of the station, you could see that the track is broken into two bridges. The backtrack is for parking”. “We are happy that the contractors are working seven days a week. The major aspect apart from the Marina Station is a sea crossing from Eko Bridge to join the outer Marina. They would finish it in about three months. And by the time we will be coming back in July, the concrete construction should have been completed”, Governor Sanwo-olu was quoted as saying in a statement by his media aide, Gboyega Akosile.
The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LMRT) Blue Line Rail’s first phase’s infrastructure, from Marina to Mile 2, was initially completed, according to the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). The Blue Line Rail infrastructure would be ready this week, as promised by Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. “People are starting to see for themselves that all the milestones and challenging tasks we are intended to undertake to secure the operation of the Blue Line are being achieved; we are not just making promises about that,” it is amazing
