`Asake’, a Nigerian singer, has released a statement in response to a crash that occurred during his performance at the O2 Academy Brixton on Thursday night and left four people in critical condition.
According to reports, a crash resulted as a crowd of people tried to enter the venue where Asake was performing, many of whom did not have tickets.
Asake expressed his sympathies for the victims and wished for their recovery in a statement posted on his Instagram page on Friday.
His statement read, “My heart is with those who were injured last night and caused any form of discomfort. I pray you get well soonest. I am also in the process of reaching out to individuals. I still do not have the full brief from the venue management themselves as to what led to the disruption at the entrance of The Brixton Academy, but we are thankful that all was peaceful at the end.
“For my people who enjoyed the beginning of my performance, I am sorry that it was cut short. Thank you for your unbelievable love London. I love you too much! I’m looking forward to seeing you again in a bit!”
Following indications “that a huge number of individuals were attempting to force access to the venue,” police and other emergency services were sent to the O2 Academy in Brixton at 21:35 pm (2135 GMT).
The Metropolitan police continued by saying that the case is still under investigation and that no one has yet been taken into custody.
Police commander Ade Adelekan added, “A police investigation has been initiated, and it will be as comprehensive and rigorous as necessary to establish precisely what transpired yesterday night.
