The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) says he is encouraging women and mothers to pursue their dreams of becoming professionals in their fields.
Nami stated this in a statement released in Abuja on Monday to mark this year’s International Mother’s Day.
He further stated that there are more female directors in the Service now than at any other time in history and that this is their way of inspiring women and mothers to be able to provide for and support their families and community.
He also stated that the current administration has named more women to positions of power than any preceding administration.
He said he believes the opportunity given to women by the current administration is uplifting, particularly given the tremendous potential that women possess.
“Women and mothers can continue to be good role models for their children by weaning them away from destructive vices like abduction, thuggery, thievery, drug use, and other types of crime, he stated.
Nami praised Nigerian mothers, as well as other women around the world, for their unwavering commitment to family unity and national growth.
In times of adversity, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic, the executive chairman praised mothers for their tenacity of intent and leadership.
He regretted, however, that mothers had become the bearers of society’s burdens, especially in times of instability, wars, pandemics, and other socio-economic calamities.
He urged governments around the world to develop support and empowerment programs for mothers and their children.
