Civil Servants and Pensioners in Imo State have cried out over the non-payment of 13 months’ salary and neglect by the State Government.
This was disclosed on March 9, 2021, by Nwosu Solution the convener of a group called Imo State Graduate, who said he had an encounter with a pensioner who confirmed the debt owed Civil Servants by Governor Hope Uzodinma led administration.
According to him, Civil Servants and pensioners in the State have fulfilled all Government requirements but they are yet to be paid for services they rendered to State.
“I met a pensioner today in a restaurant who confirmed to me that she has not received her pension for the past 13 months now after she has fulfilled all Government requirements by supplying her BVN and other accreditation.
“She confirmed and cried out that the government has been selective in payment of pensions despite that the Imo state allocation has been ca coming every month yet our Governor refused to pay them their entitlement after serving the state for good 35 years.
“She also confirmed that the payment has been contracted to a consulting firm instead of the accountant General’s office. Honestly, her lamentation made me give her 500 naira for food.
“To me, payment of salaries should be a right and not a privilege and same time be the commonest task to be executed by any reasonable government in this our present era!
“Is our Governor so wicked to this extent or what is the problem? We need a good answer” Comrade Nwosu whole.
Recall that the Supreme Court of Nigeria named Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress (APC) the winner of the 2019 governorship election in Imo State, nullifying the election of incumbent Emeka Ihedioha, on January 14, 2020.
