The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Mrs Aisha Buhari has been in the news after a young student who criticised her on social media was arrested as many asked what could have been the fate of millions of Nigerians who ridiculed the former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan.
Recall that the undergraduate was arrested after he made a tweet alleging that the First Lady has grown fat after eating the nation’s money.
The tweet however, did not go well with the first lady’s team who made effort to pick up the student using security officers.
Reacting to the incident popular Nigerian skit maker Mr Macaroni called out the First Lady stating that she should have gone to court to seek justice instead of taking laws into her hands.
He further stated that the First Lady should use her power to serve the people and not oppress them.
“Madam First Lady, you are not God!!! If you have any grievance whatsoever, go to court!!! You are not bigger than the Citizens of Nigeria neither are you bigger than the Law!! You should use your power to serve the people not Oppress them!! Free Aminu”, he wrote.
Another user with name @thebest_ boom said the former First Lady Patience Jonathan understood she was open to criticism and that is why she didn’t react to all the shade that was thrown at her while in office.
“Is it not madness? Dame Patience Jonathan was made a laughing stock by Nigerians over that interview on Channels TV and till date, we make use of it as a meme. That woman didn’t say a word back at Nigerians because she understood that she’s open to criticism”, the best wrote.
Another user with the name Atarimae wrote: “Nigeria is such a sorry state. Whenever Joe Biden tweets, go under his comment and see people criticizing him, a whole president. Imagine if that was Nigeria. But yeah. These same people will preach freedom of speech and Democracy. I hope people are watching”.
