Meghan and Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are currently trending on Twitter following a historic interview with Oprah Winfrey in which they revealed some unexplained happenings at Buckingham Palace.
During a two-hour CBS special, Meghan and Harry discussed a variety of subjects, including racism, mental health, their relationship with the media, and the Royal Family, which will air on ITV in the UK at 9 p.m. on Monday.
Meghan revealed that she became depressed because she was restricted about what she could do, adding that she did not leave the house for months at a time.
Meghan responded to Oprah’s question about whether she was considering self-harm or suicidal thoughts: by saying “Yes, indeed. This was crystal clear. It’s very simple, and it’s also very terrifying. In that case, I didn’t know who to turn to.
The Royal Family has also been accused of failing to defend the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, with Meghan claiming that the situation “began to escalate” after their wedding in May 2018.
“I noticed that not only was I not being protected, but that they were willing to lie in order to protect other family members.”
“However, they were reluctant to defend me and my husband, to say the truth.”
She made reference to reports that she had made the Duchess of Cambridge weep over a dispute over flower girl outfits, a published story that went viral in the UK.
Meghan said the opposite happened. Noting that Catherine later apologized, bringing flowers and a note.
Harry spoke about his friendship with the rest of his family after rejoining his wife and Oprah for the second half of the interview.
He claims that he has a strong friendship with his grandmother, the Queen and that they talk often.
He also stated that his relationship with his father, the Prince of Wales, has deteriorated, stating that he feels “very let down” by his father, adding that his father had gone through a similar ordeal.
He did added that he will always love his father and will prioritize their relationship.
He said his father and brother, are trapped in the royal system.
