Football fans in Ejigbo, Lagos State, have applauded the splendid display of the Black Stars of Ghana as they beat South Korea 3-2 in their second group game of the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Ghana, needing a desperate win, following their first game loss 2-3 to Portugal, went into the game with determination, showing their intention right from the blast of the whistle.
They recorded the first goal of the match through Mohammed Salisu in the 24th minute following a good cross from Jordan Sure.
It was Ayew who would whip the ball into dangerous position for a good connecting header form Mohammed Kudus to make it 2-0 in favour of Ghana.
On resumption of the second half, the South Koreans would come out stronger and get, however, rewarded for their efforts.
They replied both goals earlier scored through Cho-Him-Sung headers.
However, Ghana’s efforts changed the outcome of the game as Mohammed Kudus’ goal in the 68th minute eventually sealed the victory for Ghana.
Ghana who lost their opening game to Portugal with 2-3, now have three points and will play Uruguay in their final group game.
Femi Orebote, a motor mechanic and a soccer fan told the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) that the game was very competitive and Ghana had worked very hard to earn their points.
“It was a very good game and very exciting to watch, we are proud of what the Black Stars did, now they have hope of advancing into the next stage if they do well against Uruguay,” Orebote said.
Kingsley Obiano also supported Ghana all through the match, saying Ghana would shock many teams as they have proved their quality.
“Their confidence will surely rise after this victory, indeed it was a very good one, they showed commitment and determination to go all the way.
I wish them the very best,” Obiano said.
Similarly, Uchechukwu Obiageli, a trader said that she was impressed with Ghana’s performance and wanted them to maintain the standard.
“They must keep playing hard and believing in what they can achieve, I feel they can go all the way if only they maintain a very good concentration,” Obiageli said.
