The Muslim community in Edo on Friday in Benin commended the Gov. Godwin Obaseki government for the socio-economic and infrastructural developments achieved in last seven years in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Muslim faithful gave the commendation during the Jum’mat service at the Benin Central Mosque, held as part of activities lined up for the 7th edition of the Alaghodaro Economic Summit.
The Summit, celebrated annually to mark the anniversaries of the Gov. Godwin Obaseki, has its theme this year as “The Edo Story: Creating Shared Opportunities into the Future”.
Speaking shortly after the jum’mat service, Abdul-Fatai Enabulele, the Chief Imam of Benin Central Mosque, reeled out the several socio-economic, human- oriented policies and programmes of the government in the last seven years
Enabulele noted that the governor has done well and deserved more accolades and applause.
The chief Imam, who prayed for the governor to finish well and strong, urged him not to rest in his developmental strides in the remaining part of his administration.
On his part, Ibrahim Oyarekhua, Chairman, Edo State Pilgrims Welfare Board, said Muslims in the state were grateful to the governor for carrying them along in the scheme of things.
According to him, apart from the governor’s good works that are visible for all to see, he has also done a lot to make Muslims in the state proud.
“It is on record that it is during the present government that the world class Muslim Hajji camp was built and commissioned in the state.
“He has never closed his eyes against anything that has to do with Muslim activities.
“He is the only governor who won an award recently as the best serving governor and best friendly governor to Hajj management in Nigeria and in the whole of Southern states.
“No governor both past and present has won the award before. If he was not doing well, the body will not give him the award. He has won it for the fourth time now,” he said.
Also, speaking, Zubairu Abubakar, Edo State Commissioner for Youths and Humanitarian Affairs, urged the Muslim community to continue to support the state government.
