55-year-old woman: Mrs Chinyere Ohanyere, a native of Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State popularly known as Madam Chichi, has been arrested for allegedly purchasing a set of twins.
The 55 years old who allegedly pretended to give birth to twins on September 3 at Irete in Owerri West LGA of the State was arrested last Tuesday at Graceland Estate in Owerri, Imo State’s capital after police received a tip.
The lady was apprehended with her relative, Adaeze Ohanyere, who had previously been arrested in a child trafficking case.
The children have been taken to an orphanage for proper care, while police are looking for the children’s seller.
According to Michael Abattam, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who confirmed the incident, the case has been referred to the Magistrate Court of Imo State, where the accused is on trial for alleged child trafficking.
