A 35-year-old man has been arrested by men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kebbi State for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl.
Alhaji Umar Musa-Bala, the state commandant of the NSCDC, told reporters in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday that the fleeing suspect was re-arrested on July 6 after fleeing from detention.
“The suspect was apprehended on June 13 after committing the crime at Shiyar Fara Area of Jega Local Government Area of the state by the Corps Intelligence Department, but he escaped.
“On July 6, he was apprehended by our men on surveillance and brought back to Birnin Kebbi,” he said.

Musa-Bala also disclosed that Hussaini Abubakar a 22-year-old man from Kofar Masama in Gwandu Local Government Area of the State was arrested on July 14 after abducting a three-year-old girl in the Badariya area of the Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area.
He said that the suspect was on his way to take his victim to an unknown location when members of the community alerted operatives, who apprehended him.
“A thorough investigation was conducted, and it was proven beyond doubt that his intent was to abduct the girl to an unknown location,” he said.
Musa- Bala also stated that on July 15, a 29-year-old man named Aminu, who specialized in stealing cell phones from plazas, was arrested for stealing 15 mobile phones in Birnin Kebbi.
“All the suspects will be taken to court for prosecution by Monday, July 19 as the investigations are all concluded,’’ he said.
The commandant urged the people of the state to continue supporting the corps in order to put an end to all forms of criminality, including banditry and kidnapping.
