Yusuf Aliu, a 22-year-old wanted kidnap kingpin, has been apprehended by Edo state police.
The state police command’s spokesperson, SP Bello Kotongs, confirmed his arrest, saying the suspect was alleged to have terrorized the Benin-Auchi road and its environs and was on the Police wanted list for armed robbery and kidnapping.
“On July 1, 2021, at approximately 1630hrs (4:30 p.m.), operatives of the Edo State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Unit apprehended a kidnap Kingpin, one Yusuf Aliu ‘M,’ 22 years”
”The suspect (Aliu) is the leader of a gang of four kidnappers who kidnapped Lucky Ojezele on January 5, 2021, at Idumwengie Community along the Benin-Auchi Road and fled”

“The Command’s anti-kidnapping and cyber-crime operatives apprehended him (Aliu) on an old road in Aduwawa, Benin City, using high-tech tracking/intelligence”
“Philemon Timothy, one of his gang members, had previously been arrested by the operatives and has since been charged in court”
“Yusuf Aliu confessed to kidnapping and armed robbery during interrogation. Efforts to apprehend the remaining two suspects are in full swing,” he stated.
